The most frequently asked questions from our students:

How do I get an enrollment form?
Enroll online or click here, [Telecom] or [Power], for an APT Enrollment Form to fax in
(NOTE: Please contact your funding program provider for a funding application.)

Why should I fill out all the spaces on the enrollment form?
There are several important reasons why we need you to fill out as much of the information as possible. APT recognizes that all personal and work related information must remain personal and proprietary:

    1. All confirmation information, grade reports, certificates, correspondence will mailed directly to the home address. (We don’t sell, give away, or share student supplied information with outside agencies. Class enrollment numbers and names (ONLY) are sometimes given to a CWA class representative to assist in class formations and/or to a secured-facility manager for purposes of entering a secured building.)
    2. Contact numbers are never shared, but needed for the following reasons:

    (A) To confirm any information on the enrollment form that is unclear.
    (B) In cases of emergency and to inform you of any last minute schedule changes.

Why do you need my social security number?
All colleges currently identify transfer credits for individuals by their Social Security number. In order to report any college credits earned in a class to the American Council on Education we need your Social Security number. Social Security numbers and all personal information are kept in strictest confidence according to legal requirements. This information is not used for any other purpose.

Have you received my enrollment form?
When enrolling online, the APT web-site automatically sends you a confirmation reply. Feel free to contact the APT office to verify a faxed enrollment.

I don’t see the course I want on the APT schedule, how do I arrange for an unscheduled class?
There are two options:

    1. For telecom classes, contact your local Educational Advisor to request a class for a specific course.
    2. Call APT at 800-431-8488 to contact the APT Representative for your area to discuss scheduling options.

I’ve cancelled my class, is there a cancellation fee?
There is no cancellation fee at this time.

The class was cancelled due to low enrollment, now what?

    1. Contact your local Educational Advisor to request a class.
    2. Call APT at 800-431-8488 to contact the APT Representative for your area to discuss scheduling options.

What is the minimum/maximum class size?
Minimum class size is normally 10 or more students. In order to maximize lab efficiency, maximum class size is typically held at 20 students. For cases of 12 or more students, additional dates are added to the class schedule to accommodate a second lab session. This necessity is announced on the first day of class. Students are then divided into separate lab groups.

How much does my class cost?
Please contact your Educational Advisor or the APT office for price information. The APT office telephone number is (800) 431-8488.

Where is my class being held?
This information can be found on the confirmation letter that is mailed to your home address after your enrollment form is processed. Confirmation letters are normally mailed two-weeks before the class start date. In cases where a confirmation letter states “TBA” for location, a second confirmation letter is mailed prior to class start date.

What are the dates of my class?
Class schedule information can be found on the confirmation letter that is mailed to your home address after your enrollment form is processed. Additionally, you may click here for Telecom and Power class schedules.

Why do I have to turn in the DLE’s (homework)?
The Distance Learning Exercises (DLE) are a major portion of the course grade and required for college credit classes. Passing grade for any course is 70%. The course also requires you to complete the final exam. Completion of the hands-on activities if applicable and proper attendance are also requirements for passing a class.

I’ve finished class, where is my certificate?
Certificates and grade reports are normally processed and mailed within two-weeks of completion of the course. Look for a 9”x12” white envelope with a big sticker stating IMPORTANT! Completion Certificate Enclosed Do Not Discard. Please store your certificate in a safe place; you will need to fax the certificate to your company funding agency as proof of course completion. (NOTE. This is NOT automatically done for you; this is your responsibility to your funding agency. APT cannot do this for you.) If after 3 weeks you have not received your Course Completion Certificate please call the APT office at 800-431-8488.

I received my grade report and received an incomplete because the DLE’s (Distance Learning Exercise; homework) are missing, now what?
Please do not panic, this is easily rectified by faxing or emailing the DLE’s (fax: 888-431-8588 or homework@aptc.com) to the APT office. We will grade your DLEs, credit your records, and issue your Course Completion Certificate assuming no other requirements are pending.

What happens if I miss a day?
If possible please notify your instructor or call the APT office and we will notify the instructor. At the next class, ask your instructor about any ‘catch-up’ materials you might need. Please do not miss the hands-on sessions or the final exam session. Hands-on sessions are carefully scheduled and, most likely, there will not be an opportunity for a lab make-up before the next scheduled class in your area. If you miss the final exam, please call the APT office for options.

I need to miss a day, what happens?
If you need to miss a day, most likely you already know ahead of time and can speak to your instructor about what material will be covered in class. The attendance requirement allows for a maximum of two missed class dates.

Which classes are college accredited? How many units? Type?
The information is provided in the class description.

I’m having trouble with my funds, can I start class?
Please call the APT office to discuss options.

Do I have to be employed by a telecom company in order to attend class?
Not necessarily, but if a class is held on a secured company site it may be restricted to employees of that particular company. Please contact the APT office for options.

Can I get a class on-line, what is offered, do you have a correspondence class?
Go to the Our Courses tab, select Computer Based Courses on the left menu.

What industry certifications do you offer? How much?
Some classes offer industry certifications. Look at the class descriptions for each class for industry certifications being offered.

What if I fail the industry certification exam?
Most certification agencies allow two (2) attempts to pass the closed book exams for a single initial exam price. If you fail the first exam call the APT office to arrange an appointment to have the exam proctored a second time. In some cases, additional certification exam attempts require an additional fee charged by the certification agency. Please call the APT office for pricing information for retakes of certification exams.

How do I get my college credits? How much does it cost?
For the benefit of our students, APT participates in the American Council on Education’s (ACE) Transcript Service.  The ACE Transcript Service offers a lifelong record for students who have successfully completed our courses that have been reviewed by ACE CREDIT.  This service enables adult learners to present a nationally recognized transcript to the college or university of their choice for the potential award of academic credit.  For more information, visit the ACE CREDIT Transcript Service website at http://www.acenet.edu/acecredit.
